Bake a Fake

Project Description

If self-awareness is a requirement to a deeper sense of consciousness, then what would happen if a 3D mesh became aware of its own falsity. In an age overloaded with virtual facades, and of deep fakes, everything is false until proven otherwise. Instead of striving for the hyperreal what if the work came to terms with its own materiality.

Facades from screens, intended to amalgamate into a singular identity fall short, unfairly distorting our perceptions of ourselves in relation to others. Though in times they provide the only ‘safe’ way to connect.

Baking eases the processing of animations by precomputing actions.
